Summer months

First and foremost, I would like to thank my friend Sandi for saying the right words to get me to start blogging. I've been meaning to do so for the last 3 - 4 years but after seeing many of my friends and colleagues take up the art of blogging, all I needed were those words of encouragement.

Summer months are decompressing months. A time to reflect upon the school year that has just past. A time to find a place that is very soothing, just relax, and live in the moment.

This summer, I had the chance to see many spectacular places where I had the time to live in the moment.

Alberta has some of the nicest places to sit and observe Mother Nature's goings on. I would like to boast that I have never seen bluer skies than those found in Alberta! Any place where I can see that kind of blue with mash potato clouds is a great place indeed!

I have much more to say about Alberta, but that will come in another post.

I love how red barns dot the Alberta landscape!

I had the chance to visit the UK and Ireland this year and I must say that Ireland has an unmeasurable natural beauty. It truly has those rolling green hills that abruptly end with steep cliffs rising out of the ocean. Here was another chance for me to really reflect on the fact that I truly made it there, that I had the opportunity to visit a place I dreamed of when I was much smaller.

So far my summer has been memorable to say the least. In a week or so another hectic yet rewarding school year will start and I feel rejuvenated enough to bring out the best of myself to my students.

I leave you now with a song I fell in love with when I was in Ireland. I had a chance to visit Galway and it is truly a remarkable place!
